- Description:
The 175 is a unique grey oxide tape from Scotch, and the first to be offered with their new “Superlife” coasting which was advertised to increase the lifespan of the tapes in heavy duty applications. It was only available in a SP (standard Play) version with a “Tensilized Mylar” backing for extra strength. It was released before there were low noise tapes, and although there are tech specs that show it has a higher output than the later Dynarange tapes, the tapes look virtually identical.
- These are formulas have been problematic, especially with earlier batches, that have had the tendency to squeal fir to SBS (soft binder syndrome). Later the formula was changed to one similar to the Dynarange, and the squealing is not a concern.
- Like the Dynarange series, the Superlife coating virtually eliminates oxide shedding.
- Available Refurbished: Yes, you can buy refurbished reels of Scotch 175 in our store of the later batches which seem to perform well. We stand behind this formula with refurbished guarantee.
