- Description:
TDK’s SA Series was an “EE” tape released in the 1980s to compete with Maxell’s XL-2 Series. It is a shiny backed tape, and has a highly polished near black oxide surface. This was a high quality type 8 (EE) tape. Unfortunately some batches suffer from white powder syndrome, but not all seem to suffer form the problem like the GX and some of the LX Series tapes do. If you need to play a tape that suffers from white powder syndrome, make sure to fast wind the tape through some cotton fabric to remove the powder before playing.
Notes:
- These tapes came with a unique high quality 3-piece and 3 window gray plastic reel, or a unique 2-window metal reel held together with 4 screws.
- This tape was only available in LP thicknesses, in 7″ and 10.5″ reels.
- Available Refurbished: We offer some TDK SAs in our store if they pass our inspection process.
