The BASF SM468 is the BASF production version of Agfa’s PE468, considered to be one of the best tape formulations ever made. This is a high performance +3 (low noise high output – Type 4) reel to reel tape that is still being manufactured today by Recording the Masters. This is a very high quality formulation that has been in continual production, mostly used for professional applications. Is is only available in SP (Standard Play) thickness. This tape is also known for it’s excellent quality, with flat frequency response and excellent stability and tape to head contact. Advanced R&D made sure this tape would last a long time, even when stored in adverse conditions – and even with back coating.
