Audio Devices was a quality American brand of reel to reel tapes in the 1950s through the 1970s. Their tapes were often used for professional recordings in the 1950s and 1960s and had a great reputation. Like other tapes of that vintage, the performance was similar to the Scotch 111. They were also a pioneer in DP and TP tapes, and their TP tape developed a good reputation. These TP tapes were somewhat popular in the 1960s and early 1970s but are difficult to find in good condition since older machines were often rough with tape handling and many examples have splices, stretches or crumbling. They were often used to make long playing mix tapes for background listening, as you could get 3 hours on one side of the tape at 3-3/4ips with a standard 7″ reel! Notes:
